Amol started learning tabla at the tender age of 10 years. He is a disciple of Pt. Sadashiv Pawar, who in turn studied with the late Ustad Amir Hussein Khan. Amol practices a style of tabla playing that fuses the four prominent schools or gharanas of tabla playing. His tabla playing has been described as effortless, fluent and technically perfect. He produces the most distinctive tabla bols with amazing ease and clarity, with equal mastery of the Daayaan & the Baayaan.

Nowadays, Amol is an in-demand tabla player as many artists have repeatedly requested his services. He travels all across the US from his home in Virginia, accompanying artists and performing solo as well. He has performed at various music conferences organized by renowned music Institutions such as Sadashiv Academy of Music, Nuits Atypiques de Langon, Caravane Atypiques, Halim Academy of Sitar, Shiv Sangeetanjali, Sanskar Bharati, Nadabramha Mandir, and Sangeet Sammelan.


Amol has been described as a natural singer, a true talent. He sings in many different styles and is equally comfortable singing a soulful ghazal, a light classical piece or even an up-tempo Bollywood song. He frequently gives vocal performances in the US, backed by a live band or karaoke tracks. If you are interested in having Amol perform at your event, do send him an email.


As a musician with eclectic tastes and interests, Amol is no stranger to the world of fusion. He has recorded and performed with several fusion groups over the years. His exposure to world music combined with his strong roots in the traditional forms of Indian music, make Amol a much valued collaborator in the world of fusion music.

In February of 2006, Amol's first fusion album Marufo Vega, recorded with FOLIAS, a Michigan based tango group, was released on the Blue Griffin label. Amol has also performed in Paris and London with Feo-Gasy , an internationally known percussion band from Madagascar.

As a creative, young musician, Amol is constantly looking to push the boundaries of his art and is always open to collaborations with innovative musicians from any genre.


Amol draws from a wide variety of influences to compose his music. Throughout his childhood, he listened to an eclectic blend of music, from Hindustani to Contemporary Pop music. In his own words, he simply says "I like anything that sounds good and is melodious" .

Amol has set several patriotic Marathi songs to music. He has also composed many light classical pieces, in addition to co-writing fusion music. One of his compositions was picked up as the title theme for the nationally syndicated Marathi television show "CHANDNI MI TUJHI".
